Share Four Somethings—December 2021
Near the end of each month I share something I love, something I read, something I treasure, and something ahead with others at Heather’s.
Plus here’s my One Second video from last month . . .

Something Loved
- HOOPLA DIGITAL
This is one of my favorite discoveries of the year: Hoopla Digital. Granted, this online digital library doesn’t have the most user-friendly platform for reading ebooks, but the quality of books they have available makes up for it.
Specifically, they provide far more nonfiction ebooks than I find elsewhere with my library. And also a plus—with no waiting! A downside is each library sets a fairly low limit on how many items you can borrow a month (my library says 5), but that’s not a problem for most of us.
Not every public library subscribes to Hoopla Digital, but if yours does, I highly recommend it. They also have many audiobooks (the app is great for that).

Something Read
- THE DIVINE DANCE
Books I purchase are often the last ones I read (they have no deadline to push me). I’m finally getting around to reading Richard Rohr’s, The Divine Dance: The Trinity and Your Transformation.
I love Rohr’s prayer on page 144 (that’s as far as I’ve gotten):
God for us, we call you Father.
God alongside us, we call you Jesus.
God within us, we call you Holy Spirit.
You are the eternal mystery that enables, enfolds, and enlives all things,
Even us and even me.
I’m having to read this book slowly. I can’t skim Richard Rohr. It’s worth the extra time it takes.

Something Treasured
- THE ONE WORD COMMUNITY
2021 was a great inaugural year with our first One Word Community. The participants have been so encouraging, and we’ve learned so much not only from our own words, but also from each other’s words (I didn’t see that coming!).
So I’m very excited so many are returning for our second year.
If you’re interested in having a bit of accountability with your One Word in 2022, add your name to our email list here.
We’ve also opened up signups for smaller groups within the larger group.
If you’d like to be part of a 4-person small group for more companionship, signups for small groups are here.

Something Ahead
- NEW CATEGORIES FOR SHARE FOUR SOMETHINGS
Although I’ve loved these four categories that Heather has been offering us each month at her monthly Share Four Somethings linkup (Something Loved, Something Read, Something Treasured, Something Ahead), I’m also excited about the new changes she’s starting in January 2022.
- Something Loved
- Something Gleaned
- Something Braved
- Something Achieved
Heather opens up the Share Four Somethings linkup on the fourth Saturday of each month.
What’s one of your highlights for 2021? What are you looking forward to in 2022? Share your thoughts in the comments.

- Give Yourself Grace This Christmas
As always, I loved your second a day video, Lisa! Although I didn’t really participate much in the word of the year posts, I hope to do so in 2022. If my word finds me – lol!
Blessings!
I always enjoy read “four something” posts but have not yet ever done one myself. I, too, have treasured the time in your One Word community. It has been wonderful to have learn from my word but more so to see, how so many of our words crossed and became an encouragement to one another. Looking forward to 2022!
Excited about another year of living my way into the lessons of a word in the hands of God.
And I appreciate your 4 things posts!
love this regular column of yours. Maybe I need to try this in 2022 too. Thanks for the idea and sharing Heather’s categories. Now what 4 categories call to me?
Hi Lisa – I’m popping back now that I found you for the one word link up (and I’ll be back next year with my new word!) This was another great idea for linked posts – a nice way to do a taking stock post without overkilling it. I loved your little video (I don’t take anywhere near enough photos or videos to make one of those work).
BTW you mentioned an online library – I found this one (https://b-ok.global/)a couple of years ago and it’s been an amazing source of free books to download in various forms. My Kindle has become my new best friend since lockdown stopped me going to the library for several months last year. I’ll leave you to check it out.
Have a lovely Christmas x
Thanks for sharing about another online library, Leanne! I love having multiple resources to choose from. My Kindle is one of my most treasured possessions too. 🙂 I was even more thankful for it as well when our library shut down for a few months, and they kept the digital library active.
Thank you for the info on hoopla! I looked them up as I too am an avid reader… and I found the answer to one of the mysteries of my book sales: Why is some tape company buying my book? Turns out it was this service! How cool is that ? so glad you shared and I found one of my books listed ?
How crazy that you found out that Hoopla was behind a bump in book sales! Exciting!
I enjoy your second-a-day videos. I enjoyed hearing your December recap. May God’s many blessings be with you this Christmas and always. Blessings.
Visiting from Let’s Have Coffee #14&15
Just confirming my word for 2022 it’s rather an exciting process ?
Have a lovely day Lisa!
May the Lord richly Bless you this Christmas,
Jennifer
Lisa, I didn’t know about the new Four Somethings categories for next year, so thanks for the heads up! It will be nice to do something a little different. And thank you so much for all the hard work you put into the One Word community this year. Can’t wait to see what next year holds!
I enjoyed reading your four somethings, Lisa, and I missed doing it this month so it’s good to read about the changes for 2022! Well done with all you’ve done for the One Word community too. I’m not sure if I have a word for 2022 but I’ll be thinking about it more over the next few days!
I always enjoy reading your 4 somethings posts! Next years prompts sound like lots of fun too. I’m still working on my WOTY for 2022 but did sign up for your group.
ebooks from the local library!? ?
This could change everything
Our local library is hooked up to borrowbox.com for ebooks, and overdrive.com/Libby and pressreader.com for magazines and newspapers. Wow!
Including foreign language press!
I shall investigate thoroughly asap.
Thank you Lisa! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
Yes, ebooks from the library has been revolutionary! As well as audiobooks. It’s amazing, but also a constant temptation. 🙂
