Some changes happen because of other people’s choices or simply because that’s how life works. This month, I’m learning to make room for what I didn’t choose.

This month I discovered that my world grew in small ways—through word games with Jeff, a powerful lesson in empathy, preserving family memories, and making space for a meaningful new conversation at Wild Goose Festival.

My Shift key stopped working this month, making me wonder what else still does work. Here are four ordinary things—from pinkie promises to volunteers to living my values—that reminded me to keep hope alive.
