Share a Poem or Blessing about Your One Word
{One Word 2025 April Linkup}
You don’t have to be a poet—or even a word nerd—to join this month’s One Word adventure!
Below is our April linkup for your One Word posts. Scroll down to link blog posts about your word or to share a comment about it.
For April, we’re inviting you to engage with your One Word in a fresh and creative way: through poetry or blessing. Whether you unearth a favorite line that already speaks to your word or try your hand at writing your own, the goal is to reflect, not to perfect.
TRY A POEM
Look for poems that include your word—or create your own. Go classic with a haiku or an acrostic, or get a little wild with blackout poetry or free verse. Need a boost? Here are 11 types of poems with examples to stir your imagination.
Here’s an acrostic I wrote for my word Ripple:
R—Reverberate, little stone
I—Initiate a movement
P—Place these ripples into the world
P—Progress forward to reach those I love
L—Launch my heart on a wave
E—Extend messages of connection and love
I chose these words because my image of rippling this year is to be intentional about which pebbles I drop into the water (i.e., actions, words, and emotions I send into the world), while letting go of any demanded outcome.
And here is a haiku I wrote:
My sway is narrow
so I unloose one pebble
and let ripples flow
WRITE A BLESSING
Or consider writing a short blessing, prayer, or note of gratitude that includes your word. You could create something original or adapt a passage from a sacred text or a favorite book that resonates with your journey.
I wrote this blessing with Ripple to say over myself and for others—family, friends, acquaintances, difficult people, and all beings in the world.
May you be a ripple, flowing to see others that need to be seen.
May others ripple to you, gazing closer to witness your worth.
May you be a ripple with fresh ears to hear others’ words.
May others ripple to you, tuning into your voice as valuable.
May you be a ripple of gentle waves to heal those who’ve been harmed.
May others ripple to you with layers of compassion to soothe your wounds.
May you be a ripple of love to those from your past to your present.
May others ripple to you, enlarging their reach to surround you with love.

Love the word, ripple, Lisa! It’s my hope and prayer to make a “ripple” with my ministry in promoting the HOPE we have in Jesus.
I found the ripple blessing to very soothing. Thanks for writing and sharing it.
Here’s a quote on prayer that I hope is a blessing for all of us: “O, let the place of secret prayer become to me the most beloved spot on earth.” ~Andrew Murray
I think this is a great idea! I like the acrostic. I was just remembering how much I enjoyed spending time writing poetry when I was younger. I need to make some sort of retreat for myself so I can quiet all the noise of everyday life these days and write again. Thanks for the inspiration. Visiting from The Crazy Little Lovebirds linkup.
I love the way poetry forces me to be economical and intentional with every word, every syllable!
Your poetry and blessing show that you are fully embracing the ripples!!
Hi, Lisa – I love your WOTY acrostic and WOTY blessing. Both are very inspiring!
Lisa, I love that you chose “ripple” as your word. It’s wonderful and a great conversation starter. 🙂
I forgot that adding a smiley face adds those question marks, haha.
I’ve tried fixing that issue on my blog, but I can’t figure it out. I just know now that when I see question marks, it means smiles. 🙂
