Just Show Up {Mantra 1}
This is one of my most tried-and-true mantras:
Just show up.
Never underestimate the power of your presence.
Telling myself all I need to do it “just show up” gives me just enough courage to put my body where it needs to be. Even if I feel ill-equipped to handle what I’m walking into, if I’ll just get myself there, God can show me the next step once we’re there together.
- When you are lacking in skills, still show up.
- When you think you’re empty, show up anyway.
- When you feel unprepared, just show up.
Putting your body where you want it to be has great power.
But showing up in mind and heart is also critical, wherever we are, whoever we’re with. Show up with your attention, with your compassion, with your love.
We don’t have to show up with the answers. Just show up with ourselves, just as we are.
If we show up, God will, too.
Just show up.

Even when you’re not prepared, just show up anyway. God will show up, too.

Just show up . . . God will see to the rest.
Blessings, Lisa!
This is a freeing statement, Lisa, “We don’t have to show up with the answers. Just show up with ourselves, just as we are.”
And this is what matters most, “If we show up, God will, too.” Everything changes when God shows up.
“Show up with your attention, with your compassion, with your love.” Most important part!
Father God,
Lead me to show up, ready willing & able to do whatever You ask of me!
Amen
How we show up in the world matters, it matters tremendously. I love that you add that we don’t need to have all the answers. We simply need to show up.
I am always relieved to know that God does not necessarily require me to have answers in my hand when I show up!
Great mantra, Miss Lisa. I have found of late it also applies to my helping my sister, who has lost her beloved husband of many years. I don’t need to have the words, but if I show up, she will know I care.
Tx for your inspiration. I’ve been thinking about the short, pithy, memorable guiding principles that have helped me and begun a list. Because they are short they can be remembered and injected like a quick boost of adrenalin for enlivening us. I so appreciate you! You yourself are a boost to the flagging spirit.
Love
Lynn
Lisa, I love this. Just show up. We may show up with nothing but ourselves, but that’s often what’s most needed.
“We don’t have to show up with the answers. Just show up with ourselves, just as we are.”
Great post!
Great reminder on how to show up, with heart and mind. Too often I will show up but am not there 100%.
All the rest comes easier when we start by showing up. Good word!
So much wisdom in this mantra, Lisa. I’m trying to do this on a daily basis.
Looking forward to reading this series.
Amen! Some days, just showing up in hard. I’ve had to seek professional help to get unstuck and start showing up. I’ve discovered showing up FOR help is just as important as showing up TO help!
Lisa, what a great perspective. I never looked at it that way. Thank you for bringing that to my attention for reflection. Blessings.
Yes. “We don’t have to show up with the answers. Just show up with ourselves, just as we are. If we show up, God will, too.” My husband says that half of life is just showing up. And when we show up humble, ready to learn, we even go farther.
what a powerful and motivating mantra. This a great one to start the month with
Great post, Lisa! It is really encouraging to remember that just showing up can be enough and it can put us in a position where God can use us even if we feel inadequate.
