Where I am – July 2013
I am reading . . . a variety of opinions on gay issues, including the apology from Exodus, responses about DOMA, opposite angles from Emily Wierenga (update: Emily’s link no longer active) and Rachel Held Evans, and re-reading sections of Torn.
I am thinking . . . how generous believers would seem if we took Jesus’s advice and spoke respectfully to each other despite our disagreements
I am watching . . . God bless America? He already has. The Nooma video “Rich” by Rob Bell:
I am thankful for . . . but also overwhelmed by the multiple places we keep our digital photos, music, documents, etc.
I am discovering . . . that The Old Reader instead of Feedly may be my favorite substitute for Google Reader
I am enjoying . . . my switch from Blogger to WordPress and from Shelfari to
In the learning rooms . . . I’m reading Paperless Home Organization (on my Kindle) to better use Evernote and potentially use Remember the Milk.
I am memorizing . . . (well, refreshing) the Lord’s Prayer per our
I am praying . . . for my friends traveling to El Salvador next week and sad that I won’t get to see my Salvadorian friends this summer
I am looking forward to . . . Outdoor Church tomorrow
I am pondering these words . . . in Help Thanks Wow by Anne Lamott (an excellent book!) by the Bengali poet Rabindranath Tagore:
I slept and dreamt that life was joy.
I awoke and saw that life was service.
I acted and behold, service was joy.
One of my favorite things . . . about our New York trip last week was experiencing The Lion King on Broadway. Rafiki (well, everything) was phenomenal.
I am realizing . . . maybe my fear of heights is easing up since I wasn’t too scared at the top of the Empire State Building and not at all walking on the Brooklyn Bridge
A picture for thought . . . what I found atop the Brooklyn Bridge

Oh no, did I miss your post on your NYC trip? I’ll have to go back and check. So glad you got to see a Broadway play. There’s nothing quite like it. I love the old theaters. And what a great find on the Brooklyn Bridge! I’m glad you’re home safe and sound.
Blessings and love,
Debbie
You haven’t missed a NYC post. 🙂 I still haven’t even edited my pictures. Sigh. Hopefully soon though. It was quite an amazing trip, but yes, I am glad I’m home safe and sound too. Thanks, Debbie. Hope you’re having a great weekend!
I’m reminded that I still would like to take my youngest to NY to see Phantom Of The Opera… Thanks for that. I’m looking out at the ocean and thanking God for the rest…
I hope you will get an opportunity to take her to see Phantom before much longer, Floyd. It’s very worth it. Jenna actually wanted to see Phantom again but I wanted to see something new this time (although I did love Phantom also). But tickets are too high for a repeat. 🙂 Hope you’re still enjoying the ocean if you’re there. One of my very favorite places.
I LOVE your new blog look…so much better for you!
Thanks, Peggy. I am enjoying having a cleaner and simpler look for my blog.
how lovely you could go somewhere like that, and to a show!
Yes, I felt very grateful that we were able to make that trip. We probably won’t make another like that for a very long time to come so I wanted to enjoy it as much as I could. And I did. It wore me out. ha.
Nice to peek into your life again, Lisa. Yea for NYC! That’s such a fun place to visit. I haven’t seen the stage version of Lion King but have heard it’s wonderful. Fun picture!
The last time we went to New York was in 2002. We were in Brooklyn for a business trip for Allen, and we walked to the Brooklyn Bridge but not on or across it. Now I’m wondering what else we missed besides that encouraging quote. Good for you for going to the top of the skyscraper and walking on the bridge!!
Grace and peace to you in Christ Jesus today.
NYC was definitely a fun place to visit. But so big! We still didn’t even begin to do everything we wanted to do. Including seeing the Statue of Liberty. It was still shut down during our visit but now has reopened so my niece did get to go. Maybe IF we ever go back :-), we’ll get to see it. Praying you have a blessed week, Christina!
