More Presents? Or More Presence?
Want more presents this Christmas?
Or more presence?
Offer your presence through prayer. You’ll connect more with others and plug in to God’s presence, too.
Betty and I walked together past the tables of free food, putting this or that in her cart. We made small talk.
Until the car. We loaded her groceries in the trunk and I asked Betty how I could pray for her. This is the moment it usually happens. This is when people get real. Get personal.
Tears bubbled up in Betty’s eyes. And she told me about her daughter. She was back on the streets. Betty didn’t know where. Her heart was breaking. She wanted prayers.
What do we want God to do? This question connects us to each other.

Hardly anyone will say no when we offer to pray for them.
It’s such a simple thing really, but it seems so intensely personal that I sometimes chicken out.
Thanks for sharing your story — it truly motivates me.
Beautiful and motivating as always, Lisa! Grateful you shared this!
So thought-provoking, Lisa. Thanks for sharing your heart… keeping my eyes open this Christmastime. Stopping by from #faithfilledfriday
Oh I have not been to visit your blog in forever! I recently wrote about this very thing too! And a new Xmas decor wall hanging is near our tree which says The Magic of Christmas is not in the presents, but in His Presence.
Excellent post!!
Merry Christmas!
Dear Lisa,
These are such beautiful thoughts about looking for the Presence of Christ as we are in the presence of others! He does come to dwell when 2 or 3 are gathered in His name–what a gift to share with others. Even in the midst of these hectic days, surely we can take a few moments and pause to pray with those God sets in our path. Blessings to you!
The power in laying our hand on someone hurting and praying out loud for them! We did this yesterday in the nursing home!
Such beautiful words Lisa. Thank you!
Beautiful, Lisa. That sensitivity to the Holy Spirit–knowing when to offer to pray for people–is a gift. Sharing that, the Gift of His Presence is the best one we can give! Merry Christmas!
