5 Things Around the Web

• Stop Praying “Be With” Prayers

I need this one. I know Jesus is already with us, so why do I ask for it again anyway? “It’s a bit of a waste to make my prayer that Jesus would do what he already said he’d do, and has already started doing.”

4 Tips for Introverts to Make Phone Calls Less Painful

My latest favorite tip (wear earbuds to talk on the phone!) isn’t in this article, but these four tips also seem helpful for people like me who hate to talk on the phone. (Seriously? Just now I’m getting this text, “Lisa, can you please call me.” Ugh.)

How Many Photos Have Ever Been Taken?

More pictures are taken every two minutes than in all the 1800s. No wonder I have trouble organizing my digital photos.

Cool Tools Podcast

I’ve recently started listening to this podcast about cool tools. “A cool tool can be any book, gadget, software, video, map, hardware, material, or website that is tried and true. All reviews on this site are written by readers who have actually used the tool and others like it. Items can be either old or new as long as they are wonderful.”

• Fun, Family Workouts

My niece Amanda has become a Revelation Wellness instructor, a blend of faith and fitness. She’s teaching a Friday morning workout class that we attend when we can, as do other family members. Makes it fun when we work out together!

I still haven’t returned to keeping up my flowerbeds. But I am enjoying the flowers I put in pots in the front and back. More manageable yet still pretty!

• First Beach Trip with the Granddaughter!

We went to Panama City Beach, Florida, last week with the family and had a fantastic time! Watching first steps into the ocean waves and toes in the sand was such a thrill.

• Grandbaby #2 Also at the Beach

Jenna took maternity pictures of Morgan on the beach. I love watching my two daughters and my two granddaughters together (well, seeing one granddaughter on the outside and imagining the other sweet girl still safe inside).

• 4 Corners Spend-the-Night Party

We finally had our “Christmas” sleepover Friday night (only 6 months late). It’s been a sad year with Kathy losing Stan, but we’re thankful to have each other to walk through it together.

When Transformation Seems Slow, Don’t Eat the Change

“I ate the money.” He swallowed 89 cents. Eating change won’t make us richer. Just as forcing spiritual change won’t make us holier. Don’t eat the change.

There are two highlights for me from the month of June: Taking a spontaneous trip to the mountains with granddaughter, Virginia, and volunteering at VBS this past week. Truly amazing fun!
Looks like you had a terrific month, too, Lisa. Love the photos of your precious little grand-girl. What a doll!
    Blessings!

Your mountain trip with your granddaughter was definitely one for the memory books, Martha. And Virginia will be old enough to remember it for years to come! I haven’t volunteered at VBS the past few years, but I remember how much hard work it is for the teachers, so bless you in your ministry to the children.

I always enjoy the video! The beach trips sounds so fun. How neat to work out with someone you know.

I got convicted about “be with” prayers years ago when a guest speaker mentioned them and reminded us God is always with us. One of those, “Duh, why didn’t I think of that” moments. But it has stuck with me.

I’ll have to check out Voxer. One of my problems with phone calls is being jolted out of whatever I was doing or thinking about and switching gears, then having to think “on my feet.” Switching gears and thinking are things I do slowly, so dealing with all that while someone is waiting for a response on the other end causes tension. I like texts and emails so much better, so I have time to think before responding.

I’ve never used Voxer either, but I hear that people like it. I’m like you: I prefer texts and emails because I like having more time to think before I respond. I almost always change a word or two before I hit send. (Trying to notice if I do that with my comments, too. ha. If not necessarily a word change per se, I do often have to correct spelling or grammar or something.)

I always have a book with me too, Pam! If nothing else, at least on the Kindle app on my phone. I’m trying to turn to a book more than social media when I have snippets of time here and there when I’m out. Or better yet, just do nothing. 🙂

I can’t think of anything cuter! 🙂 Those little toes weren’t always crazy about the sand though. ha. She did best when she forgot about the sand and just played.

I know you’ll have a great time with your sweet grandbabies, Joanne! It was such a treat for me to finally have all the kids, the spouses, and the grandbaby to ourselves for a few days. 🙂

Thanks, Jennifer. Those baby toes; I can’t get over them. 🙂 She hurt her knee last night and didn’t want to stand up today (according to her daughter) but hopefully those toes are back on duty by this afternoon.

How cool! I had never heard of Revelation Wellness until my niece Amanda flew to Arizona for training last year. It’s a cool ministry. Hope that Tami is able to minister well through it also!

  3. Lesley

Great round-up and photos, and some interesting articles too! It’s strange to think how much we seem to pray asking God to “be with” someone, and I liked the article about tips for talking on the phone too as that’s definitely not something I enjoy!

    1. LisaNotes Post author

It’s funny that there are so many of us who don’t enjoy talking on the phone. I guess it wasn’t as big a deal back in the days when we didn’t have phones with us ALL the time! 🙂

  4. Patsy Burnette

Lisa, I love the grandbaby on-the-way and beach photos! Aren’t grandbabies just the best thing ever!!! 🙂

This is such a fun post!

Thanks for linking up at InstaEncouragements!

Thanks, Patsy. It’s been so much fun having a granddaughter! I’d always heard and seen it with others, but I’m grateful that now I’m getting to experiencing it for myself. 🙂

I’m toying with either “savor” or “linger” for my word. They’re similar but slightly different, too. (Granted, it is just August; God still has time to take me in a totally different direction if he so chooses!). 🙂
