Daybook – October 2013

I am thankful . . . for tickets to Casting Crowns touring near us in October and for good friends to go with us

I am hearing . . . their newest single, “All You’ve Ever Wanted”

All-Youve-Ever-Wanted-by-Casting-Crowns

I am appreciating . . . their lyrics that I don’t have to work to make God proud of me

No more chains I’ve been set free
No more fighting battles You’ve won for me
Now in Christ I stand complete

I am pondering these words . . . “There will come a time when you believe everything is finished. That will be the beginning.” – Louis L’Amour

I am memorizing . . . Ephesians 1:5-6 this week with Do Not Depart

I am looking forward to . . . sitting under the teaching of a godly woman in a new small group I joined  Nameless-Women-in-the-Gospels-at-Do-Not-Depart

I am praying . . . about the October series on Nameless Women in the Gospels at Do Not Depart

I am resolving . . . to stay open to whatever God sends my way, even the painful stuff

I am discovering . . . how it thrills me to see Jeff reading multiple books on vacation (who is this man with such a thick book???)

I am wondering . . . if I lived on the beach, would I ever get tired of this?

I am reading . . . excerpts from favorite books to post for #31Days in October

I am hoping . . . Jenna can keep living out her photography dreams without getting squashed by them 🙂 #WarEagle

One of my favorite things . . . curled up baby toes, these from my sweet great niece Millie last Tuesday morning

I am realizing . . . I might start enjoying Instagram after all

I am exploring . . . iOS7 features—one fave is the new way to close apps. You?

A few plans for this week . . . Outdoor Church this Saturday

A picture for thought . . . anybody recognize this man and know where he sits every night? (hint: he represents a favorite part of our vacation; sorry he’s kinda creepy)

We are really looking forward to seeing Casting Crowns. We’ve seen them a few times before too. I love how they use the time as more of a worship service than a concert, don’t you? It’s all about focus.

There is that precious phrase again…Now IN CHRIST I stand complete…IN CHRIST…IN HIM. Everywhere I turn these days those two words are popping out at me! Beautiful daybook entry, Lisa! Love you!

    Dear Lisa
I live about 200 meters from the beach for the last 11 years and I assure you I never get tired of the beauty and splendor of this privilege. The sound of the waves that sing love songs and songs filled with fear; dolphins swimming around my sons when they surf; beautiful shells and hot sand tickling my feet. It is so wonderful. Last week there was also a whale swimming near my son when he was surfing.
    Blessings XX

It’s good to hear that the beach hasn’t gotten old for you after 11 years, Mia. Wow. I can’t imagine all that loveliness you and your family get to soak in daily. Maybe that’s why your writing is always so inspired! We all benefit by how you are moved to notice God in such poetic ways.

I love getting a glimpse into your life. I too love to read books! I tend to read several at a time. My husband doesn’t get that but it’s how I have always done it. Love the video and lyrics.

    Blessings and love,
    Debbie

Yep, I so relate to that phenomenon of reading several books at once. Jeff used to think I’m crazy, but now he expects it from me. It helps for him to know others do it too and it’s not just me. 🙂

Good for you, concert girl! I’m also not surprised that Jeff is reading… I’m surprised it took this long for your habits to rub off on him! And last but not least, it warms my heart to hear my sister quote the famous Louie L’Amour… “I think I’m gone’ cra…”

    1. Lisa notes...

I guess we have turned into concert people the past few years. ha. I used to think it wasn’t worth the money when I could use it instead to buy CDs and hear the songs over and over, but I’ve grown to realize that the worship experiences continue to affect me long after the “concerts” are over, so that makes it worthwhile.

It took 21 years for my book habit to rub off on Jeff this much. 🙂 I’m wondering which habits of his I’ve picked up….

One of our best vacations when we got a hotel right on the beach and could hears the waves even t night, I wondered if I’d ever get tired of it. Would be fun to stay long enough to find out. 🙂

Jenna is braver than I am! One of the funniest pictures my oldest son took in high school was on the sidelines of a soccer game when the players were coming his direction. I don’t know how he managed to snap the photo before getting out of the way.

I haven’t gotten into Instagram yet. I keep hearing great things about it.

So far I haven’t found much I like about the IOS7, but my son says he likes everything about it. I’ve just been trying to figure out how to do things differently than I did before in ways that I don’t see as an improvement. 🙂 But I’ve been thinking I need to look up an article about the features so I can learn more about them.

    1. Lisa notes...

I used to be slightly amused when photographers got in the way of the game, but now it’s not so funny. ha. Thankfully Jenna’s closest call was like your son’s; she got out of the way before the players knocked her over.

I did read articles about iOS7 to see what all was different. It really helped me better know how to tweak my settings to get the privacy levels I wanted and save my battery from draining so quickly. I’m not very adventurous about playing with it on my own and figuring things out. 🙂

    1. Lisa notes...

Casting Crowns has been one of my favorite groups for a long time. Their music has touched me in healing ways in many seasons of life. Glad you appreciate them too. Thanks for stopping in and sharing.

I’m liking OS7 so far, but I haven’t figured out how to close the apps!!! You’ll have to give me the scoop on that! I like that you can swipe to go “back” in Safari. I love Instagram… definitely spend some time on there. It grows on you! Love the football pic!

    1. Lisa notes...

I’m glad you asked because closing the apps is also one of my favorite things about the new iOS! Once you double-click to see your open apps, you just swipe the image up and away. Easy-peasy.

I’m not sure I’ve discovered swiping “back” in Safari so thanks for sharing that. Enjoy your evening.
