Great points, Lisa! Aside from the Advent experience, gift-giving is my favorite part of Christmas. Not so much the commercialism, rather finding a gift that brings delight to the receiver. It doesn't have to be expensive or the latest fad to do the trick! What a blessing to have the gift of family around the tree! Praying you have a blessed day with family & friends! Happy Christmas!

What a blessing to have all 12 of us in one place though! As my daughters have married, I'm appreciating even more those rare occasions when we can all be together at one time. I can't say I'll ever shop in October, but I so admire those who can do that. :) It sounds like you have a great mix of both Mary and Martha. May you all have a wonderful Christmas too, Pam!

Ha. You and my husband...exactly alike! :) I do love Thanksgiving too though. It doesn't involve shopping (I am NOT a shopper).

So well said, Lisa! This year and last most of our shopping was done online and some of it as early as October when some fall sales were happening. Now that we have 6 amazing grandchildren that are all adult size and interests (nearly), we look for things carefully. Sometimes when we know of a direction they are headed (college, medical school, etc.) our gifts are often practical. Our house is not large and the visit when they all come puts 12 of us here with the 6 grands stacked like cordwood on the living room floor so my attempt this year for their very short time here is to determine how to handle food to reduce dishes (no dishwasher here) and time in the kitchen when spending time with one another is most key. Have a blessed Christmas, my friend!
