Being other-focused instead of self-focused is an intentional act. The other day a random person walked into the office, asking for a photocopy. My co-worker graciously made a copy of the folded paper he handed her, and he was very grateful, skipping out of the office holding the paper up happily. Thing is, there was absolutely nothing on the paper. It was blank. Instead of questioning him, she did as he asked. Yes, we can know so little about others, yet can be gracious at all times.

I love the truth you bring out here, “If I don’t listen, I don’t act, and ulimately I miss out on love”. This is so true. I deceived myself for years thinking I was a good listener, but dealing with my own pain in not being heard in crucial moments of my life, opened my eyes to my superfical at best listening.

Your simple truth can change our lives if we take it to heart.
