I hope you will blog about Zechariah yourself, Jean. I'd love to hear your take.

I'm sorry for what your friend is going through (sending up a prayer right now for his healing), but I love what you shared---that he's thinking about this quieter season as a new gift. Wow. What a blessing.

Yes, I am enjoying this Advent season; I hope you are as well. My husband and I have been working through short devotionals with Pieces of the Promise, and now that my baby is home for Christmas break, she's joining us.

I am thinking about Zachariah lately and may blog about him too. Interesting a friend of mine has cancer and one side effect of the chemo he takes he has now a raspy and almost nothing of a voice. this is difficult of course especially for one who has taught about Christ using his voice for years. BUT it is so neat to hear him think this through as a new gift - new ways to witness for Christ with a softer or no voice. Your post made me think of him today and admire him. Hope you are having a blessed Advent.

Oh, you hit me where I'm most vulnerable---the dreaded phone call. ha. I much prefer text or email or in-person than the phone. Not sure exactly why. But often the phone is the best choice to encourage someone so I need to get over my disdain for it. I know I've definitely benefited when others have called me when I needed it!

Well, not everyone has been given the gift of singing. But I have nothing to go on here but your word. :) I don't have a great voice myself, but I do love to sing anyway. Maybe it's a bigger gift to others when I get quiet. ha.

Loved the post you linked to, particularly the part about phone calls - that struck me for some reason. Around this holiday season, I know of many people who are going through a lot of hurt. And we have the chance to really bless them and encourage them with our voice - that voice over the phone.

"Lisa, you haven't heard me sing!" (And you may count yourself lucky!)
