I love your analogy with the guy on the trapeze, Rebecca. Jesus has us covered, whether we walk across or when we fall. I’ve definitely seen fear cripple people’s lives as well, and have to fight against it to keep it from crippling mine.

Yes, I’m thankful that Jeff is quite a good one. God outdid himself with connecting me with Jeff. 🙂 Jeff is patient with my fears while continuing to be an encouragement to me. I can take on a wee bit more challenges when he is by my side.

Thanks, Mary. You hit on a key point: remembering who we are and that God is everything we need. Amen, sister! That would save us a boatload of worry if we could keep that truth front and center in every situation.

I’ve been a passenger with my eyes tightly closed many a time on those narrow mountain roads, Jeanne. I absolutely hate those. I wish I were a little more adventurous. Doing a ropes course 30 feet off the ground, even with nets, sounds pretty terrifying to me. 🙂 But I do occasionally venture out into the “scary” things (like, going up the St. Louis Arch, ha). I want to remember every day that Jesus is my safety net, not necessarily to keep me sheltered from all harm, but to keep me safe in spiritual places as much as I’ll allow him to.

And good for you for following your instincts. Physical challenges are the easiest. Spiritual ones, as you referred to, are the hardest and mean the most.

I like to be safe too (in every way!). 🙂 So I know where you’re coming from, Shannon. But you’re so right that there is a time and place for risks. I pray for wisdom to know when, how, and to have the courage to act.
