One time my husband was gone on a business trip, so I let our dog sleep inside. I carefully blocked off the area where I wanted her to sleep and went to bed feeling very safe. In the middle of the night, I could hear footsteps squeaking the loose boards in our hallway. My heart stopped. I sat up, and my rational mind told me the house was locked and NO ONE could get inside and past our German Shepherd. The footsteps came closer. I got out of bed and tiptoed to our bedroom door. Unlocked it, and peered into our hallway. Imagine my relief when I saw it was our dog! I had no idea she weighed enough to squeak the boards!

Yes, Lisa! He promises never to leave us or forsake us. And He’s more than a someone. He is *the* Someone who loves us more than we realize possible. Still, because He is invisible, we cannot always *feel* His presence. That is what I find difficult at times. That is when our faith, not just for faith’s sake, but faith in HIM, will win out.

I’m reminded, too, of one of my favorite musical solos: “You’ll Never Walk Alone.”

Sometimes, I enjoy singing secular songs to the Lord, but knowing what *I* mean when I sing them. 🙂 This is one such song!
