I agree that often we are our own worst enemies. Many are turned away from Christianity because of Christians before they ever get to Christ. 🙁 This book is very helpful in being honest and open about questions instead of coming up with trite answers that everyone can see through. We need authenticity, not a cover-up.

I hear you, friend. My to-read list is overwhelming, yet I continue to add to it. This book had been on there awhile (but it’s still relatively new so hadn’t been on there too long!). In 2014 I prioritized the list somewhat so I could finally read some of the things I’d been wanting to read. I’m definitely glad I read this book!

The biggest threat to Christianity is Christians.

More to the point, Christians who cherry-pick aspects of the faith to either match their experiences, or advance their agenda, and then try to make their new theology a general truth. To see examples, just watch TBN for about two hours.
