Hi Lisa, as always you've read some great books, they all sound very interesting! I also read Yesteryear and was quite confused at times but as you say it all came together at the end - quite an interesting concept and sad in many ways. Thanks for joining us!

I feel anxiety about the whole AI issue and I am not sure if reading about it would make it better or worse. I think the book about aging sounds interesting. Suddenly my husband's siblings and mine are all aging and struggling. thanks for linking up. Bernie

I was interested to read your take on Yesteryear. In that middle section, I started skipping every other chapter because I wanted to read the story in sequence without the gimmicky "time travel" sections I went back and read those afterward, and the big twist didn't impress me, nor the cartoonish characters. Whenever I read a book with a lot of hype about it, I usually end up disappointed.

I'm afraid I can't see people developing thoughtful governance around AI -- where is there thoughtful governance of anything these days? So the changes are going to happen, like it or not, and we'll have to deal with them. I'm not sure whether I want to read books about the topic, or about things I find inwardly supportive that might give me more courage and strength...thanks for recommending one you found useful, anyway.

I've also seen mixed reviews on Yesteryear, I'll probably have to read it to make up my own mind. I was drawn to The Inner Work of Age but I always feel I've missed out on the regular parts of aging. My kids have never left home, I had children in my 40s, none of them ever want children and to top it off I have an incurable progressive illness. I'd love to be able to do the things that older people do.
