A. WHERE?
Where have you seen your word already this year? Where can you look for it? Where can you place it around you to remind you of it more often?
B. WHAT?
Do you have a tangible reminder of your word? Maybe you could create a collage or draw a photo or create a special graphic. Show us!
C. WHY?
If you haven’t already, write down your thoughts about why you’ve chosen this word. What do you expect it to bring you? What do you hope to learn from it?

Lisa, I’m pretty sure that my word for 2022 is “breathe.” I will get back to you on this sometime down the road as I write more blogs and God continues to reveal things to me as the days unfold.
Just so thankful beyond measure to have the breath of life in my lungs!

That word is a breath of fresh air! 🙂 I love it. And your word reminds me of the old hymn, Breathe on Me, Breath of God:
1. Breathe on me, Breath of God,

How you have touched my heart with this old hymn! As one who spent years with a contemporary worship band, I’m more familiar with “Breathe on me, breath of God, breathe on me . . . I come alive, come alive, when you breathe on me . . .”, but these are one in the same in God’s heart.
I think you may have decided my word for me. 🙂

Martha, Thanks for reaching out, and I’m so glad you enjoyed that hymn. I tend to be old-school in my love of hymnody, so I wasn’t familiar w/ the contemporary song you cited. I must look it up and listen online! What a wonderful word you’ve chosen–lots of biblical references to it. One of my *favorite* such passages is Ezek. 37 and the valley of the dry bones. Their hope had been cut off. But when God breathed into them the breath of life, they rose up. I can fairly hear all that rattling and clacking of bones arising, as the Scripture describes it. Anyway, you will have many insights to share as God breathes His purposes into your year! And as a vocalist, I’d remind you to breathe deeply from the diaphragm. Most people take shallow “chest breaths” and run out of air. End of lecture and voice lesson! 😉 xo

I have chosen “play” for several years. I tend to take life very seriously, and I felt a need to be lighter. This year I want to focus on doing everything from a place of love, so my word is “love.”

As someone who tends to take life too seriously myself, maybe I should consider Play one of these years too! 🙂 Your word Love is so foundational this year. I’m sure not only will you be blessed by it, but those around you will be blessed too.
My One Word is “purge,” not just possessions but attitudes and things weighing me down. January is always super busy for me but in February I intend to carve out (or purge) more writing time to explore this further.
Our words are similar, your Purge and my Release. They both come with a cost; we have to learn we can’t do all the things we want to do. That’s a hard lesson for me when there are so many things I want to do (and write about). So keep us posted when you write more about this, Jerralea!
Lisa, I love this community! I am so very grateful for your leadership and courage to step out and start this group last year! I benefitted greatly from the fellowship, kind feedback and walking with others on their one word journeys!
My word for 2022 is resilience and I look forward to traveling with this awesome group again this year!

Yes, learning so much from each other was such an amazing part of the journey last year that caught me off-guard. Seeing that you chose Rest also caught me off-guard, Michele! lol. My word is hope, and I’ve made two collages in my art journal to illustrate it. I plan to make a bookmark with my word along with some scripture. And, Lisa, I just want to thank you for all you do. I’m sure there’s a lot involved in leading this group. Blessings to you! xo

My word for the year is Betterment. There are several areas I want to do better in this year: My relationship with God, I also am reading the Bible thru for the whole year for the 1st time. I want to be a better wife and partner. I want to be a better sister, and friend. Last year I had a lot of big changes in my life and let a lot of things go, so this year I will better myself. I also want to learn some new things. Not sure what yet.
Betterment is such a unique word and a great choice for the year, Heather! I love how you break down the different categories of ways you want to be better. I’ve found that it helps me to be specific like that. And yet also hold it loosely at the same time…as you say, not sure yet what new things you will learn (whether by choice or by God’s design).
Lisa, I’ve loved your One-Word group, though I’ve not been able to participate as much as I would have liked. Maybe this year: Hope springs eternal. My 2021 word was REBUILD. While I’m not rebuilt what I’d hoped, amazingly and quite unexpectedly, my sister and I rebuilt our relationship after her silence of 3 1/2 years. Now that is a wonderful rebuilding, likely making all else pale by comparison.
My 2022 word is FINISH. God has been speaking to be about unfinished projects, but just today in a book I’m reading about finishing well, the unexpected insight of unfinished business when it comes (yet again!) to relationships. I have in mind whom God might be indicating.
I also think of Jesus’ finished work on the Cross and that He is not finished with the person He intends for me to be. Yes, hope really *does* spring eternal!

Reconnecting with your sister is an amazing outcome of Rebuild, unexpected or otherwise! I’m sure Finish will bring both some expected conclusions this year but also some unexpected ones as well. Should be interesting!
And yes, “It is finished” are some of the most precious words we can ever hear from our Jesus. Small but monumental!
My word for 2022 is Reverence. I am hoping to really connect to the beauty of the earth and to take the time to appreciate all the good things in my life.

My one word is ‘wait.’ And boy, does God ever have a sense of wry humor!
You have a lot of courage to choose Wait, Anita! 🙂 But I’m sure you’re up for it. I love the double meaning you’re using with it: to have patience and also to wait on someone. Again, lots of courage for both those areas! Since God says he rewards those who wait on him, I’ll be praying you see lots of treasure along the way this year!
My word of the year is BREATHE and I did it cause i want things done now. I can’t rush God so I need to breathe. I am trying to work on my health and i have to breathe through the pain and exercises and life trials and tribulations. So that would be near and dear to me.
Not only do I love your word, but I love your reasoning behind it, Claudine. When I chose Breath in 2010 I didn’t think about it being “not rushing God” but that’s a great aspect of it. Praying it goes well for you!
So many great words on here! I particularly love Play, breathe, and connect– those all speak to me as I try to bring a little bit of playfulness to our lives and keep finding ways to connect with my boys. My WOTY is step.
I know, right? So many wonderful words. I can see how it would be fun to choose a different word each month; maybe I’ll try that one of these years. 🙂 And include your word Step as one of those months.
