Hi Lisa. It’s amazing how God is drawing my attention to “grace” sightings, not only in His Word, but in everyday circumstances. And in one of your posts that ended with “May we never be selfish with grace.” And a couple of weeks ago when I was at a greenhouse store, another customer had on a t-shirt that said, “Grace Wins.” As my heart pondered these words on the way home, I heard a song on the radio, “Your grace is enough.” God gives us grace upon grace, doesn’t He? Love and blessings to you, my friend!

What a treasure chest of grace God is raining down on you, Trudy! I love hearing all these places you keep finding grace. I consider you a living testimony of grace, so wherever you go, there goes grace. 🙂

“Decrease”… I have not written a specific blog post @ Being Woven this month on my One Word 2021, but I have pondered becoming less while Christ becomes more in my life. With all the worldly craziness around me/us…murders, yelling, accusing, berating others, people committing horrible acts of violence towards the “one anothers,” I almost feel that my decrease is more of demise. I feel like I cannot stand all the “awful” around me and just want to shrink away. That would be me doing the work, but Christ is to be my focus. Christ is where I must fix my eyes and stay in His Word. Thus, I will surely be less and He will be more. I will grow on the inside but become less of me on the outside. I want others to see Christ in me. So I must still exist so that can happen…no demise of me yet! Until He calls me home and then it will be for His glory, not mine. Focus, ~ linda!

Deep thoughts here, Linda. I haven’t thought of “decrease” in these terms so I appreciate you stretching us with your thoughts. Our decrease isn’t to disappear into our demise, but to become less on the outside while we become more full of Christ on the inside. I agree with you! Beautiful insights, friend.

My One Word for 2021 is “Fear”. I feel God speaking to me daily as I do my devotional readings and Bible readings. I see the word fear as a profound reverence and awe to GOD and see fear that can be paralyzing in my daily life. My Life Application NKJV study Bible brings it up in many ways each day.
My fear is increasing for GOD and decreasing in what I am now calling paralyzing fear. I am finding much comfort in my chosen scripture reading of Isaiah 41:10. What a revelation to see fear in such a positive way and something I can focus on.
I look forward to all the changes that will continue to occur in the months to come with GOD’S direction. If I listen to Jesus, then I have nothing to fear, not even death. Let your faith be greater than your fear.

        1. LisaNotes Post author

Daily communication with the Lord is a wonderful way for all of us to practice our words. How amazing that you are doing this, Denise, and reaping fruit from it already. I love your distinction between fear (awe) for God versus paralyzing fear. That’s the direction I want to head with my fears too. Thanks for sharing the changes you’re seeing!

While January and February seemed to slip by without much focus on my One Word – “Challenge” – March is changing that. I had the Challenge of taking on a 4 day road trip with my 22 year old son, the challenge of trying (unsuccessfully, so far) to book an appointment for my Covid vaccine. And now I find myself facing the challenge of some health issues and how to bring them under control.

    1. LisaNotes Post author

Ugh, I’m sorry that you’re having those particular kinds of challenges, Beckey. I’ll be praying for you that you are able to get your health issues under control, and also that you’ll find a covid vaccine soon. I had been looking all over for one, too, and then I got a call last week for an appointment right near me. Monday is the first day that it opens up for my age category, and I get in on the first day. I feel very grateful. I hope it will eliminate a few of the challenges that the year has brought.

The linkup itself is actually part of my journey with Uncertainty! I was so torn about whether a linkup would be helpful to others or not, but hopefully it has been. It has definitely been helpful for me to stay on track with my word. I’m certain about that. 🙂

    1. LisaNotes Post author

I feel the same way as you, Barb! I’m so grateful for the honesty and vulnerability that flows on the blog pages and in the comments from those in our One Word community. It’s nice to know we’re walking alongside each other on our faith journeys, even though our paths may take us different places.

  4. Gayl

Lisa, what a great idea to have a link-up! I must confess I had completely forgotten that I chose a word for the year. So your post reminded me, but I couldn’t remember my word! But I remembered sharing it in a small group I was in so I searched for one word and found it. I was so glad, because my word is comfort. And after all we’ve had the past few years, comfort is a perfect word. And a friend reminded me that as I am comforted I can pass that comfort on to others like it says in 2 Corinthians 1:3-5. So thank you, Lisa for reminding me. I’m going to write a post on it and link up! Blessings to you! xoxo

    1. LisaNotes Post author

I’m glad that the post did its job in reminding you of your word, Gayl! That’s what I was hoping it would do for each of us, including myself. 🙂 It’s easy to drift along and forget about our words. I’ve done that some in years past. Your word of “comfort” is so perfect for you and I’m thankful for Bettie’s encouraging words to you. We all benefitted. Loved your post!

  5. Linda Stoll

Hey Lisa! Your link-up and encouragement have kept serendipity within my sights. Even pulling the monthly post together is a bit different each month and I’m having fun in the process … and becoming more focused on what God is up to!

Appreciate your vision and the monthly connection for One Word 2021!

    1. LisaNotes Post author

I am so enjoying your Serendipity, Linda. It’s the fun side of my word Uncertainty. 🙂 I’ve loved the variety in your posts each month and look forward to what God is going to be up to in April with serendipity! So thankful you’ve linked up.

  6. Paula Short

Hi Everyone, I don’t have a blog post this month for my one word 2021 Selah. But I did order a book By Kristen Kill called Finding Selah. I’m only on chapter 3, so no book review yet. I will follow up with a review when finished. My automatic pause and reflect continues to be second nature now. Blessings everyone.

    1. LisaNotes Post author

I got the Kindle sample sent to me of Finding Selah since you mentioned it, Paula! What a blessing that you are experiencing this pause as second nature now. I’ve actually been attuned to both the words Selah and Pause more this year as a result of your choice of Selah. I welcome seeing it more and more as a reminder for me to also practice Selah. I appreciate you.

My one word is harvest which I see as fruitful. Because I want to have a good harvest and be fruitful, I have been studying 2 Peter 1. I have written 3 blog posts on 2 Peter 1 and feel so thankful to be walking with the Lord in preparing for an abundant harvest.

    1. LisaNotes Post author

I appreciate gleaning from your harvest in 2 Peter 1. It’s a powerful chapter with so much rich wisdom in it. I’ve tried memorizing several verses from it in the past. Thanks for linking up and sharing what you’re learning with us!

  8. Donna

Lisa, I feel this month the Lord was searching my heart and revealing some things hindering my joy journey. Reading C.S. Lewis’ book, “Surprised by Joy” helped me realize some areas where my pursuit of joy was not fully honest, and areas of “expectation” where I ceased to find joy in God, but simply expected Him to provide it. I thank God for His gentle ways of dealing with me, for it was His kindness that put me back on track!

    1. LisaNotes Post author

I’m always happy to see you link up, Donna, because I know I’ll be in for a treat when I read your posts. I learn something from you every time I read your writings, without feeling like I’ve been in trouble. 😉 As God deals gently with you, you pass on that gentleness with us. I can see a pursuit of joy as a spiritual discipline for me; I love that you’re focusing on it all year so that I can learn from your findings.

      1. Donna

Lisa, your words are a great encouragement to me, it is my heart’s desire to share/teach in a way that is gentle, loving and compassionate, as that is how deals with me. It is the kindness of the lord that draws us to repentance, & beside that truth, I know too well my own failings to be harsh with someone else!

  9. Joanne Viola

I love coming to these posts each month. It is amazing how one word can show up in the most unexpected way and speak so deeply into our hearts. I shared a post on how it showed up just the other day 🙂 I am looking forward to reading these posts as I always find them encouraging.

P.S. The tray by Randy Flowers is just beautiful!

    1. LisaNotes Post author

It’s been interesting to see the ways that “prevail” has been showing up with you, Joanne. It increases my own faith when I see God working like that in the lives of my friends. Thanks for your consistency in reporting in!

    1. LisaNotes Post author

I’m excited to see who wins! I’ll do a random drawing on the 31st and let them (and then you!) know. 🙂 Such a beautiful idea; we appreciate you and Randy.
