What a wonderful memory to have those books read to you by your dad! Wow--lots of patience on his part. :) I agree that many "children's" books just get deeper and deeper as we age. I recently reread A Wrinkle in Time and The Giver and both books held more meaning to me now than when I was young.

I’m glad to hear that you make good use of Evernote! I hope to get better at using it because it does seem like such a handy tool (and free too—that’s always good, ha). I’ll keep y’all updated on The Interior Castle. It’s not going very well so far. Hopefully as I read Entering the Castle, I’ll be able to better understand The Interior Castle. :)

Absolutely!

I'm glad you enjoyed them.

I recall first hearing them read by my father when I was 5 years old. I first read them myself when I was around 10 years old, and have reread them several times since.

As much as I enjoyed them as a child, I think I really appreciate them more now. There some layers of meaning that are best appreciated after a few years of living.

Yes, after 50+ years, I finally read the Lord of the Rings! And loved all 3 books! :) Can you believe it? I guess they've been popular for a reason after all (and not just for geeky males, haha). Such rich spiritual imagery in every book. I'm sure I missed a lot of things in the details (a re-read in another 50 years?), but I feel enriched by having finally read them. Better late than never, right?

Hi Lisa!
Loved this informative, fun post! I use Evernote all the time to take and keep notes and plan to go back and watch that video in total. I have Snapchat on my iPhone to occasionally connect with two of my grandkids, but not sure I am adding that to my techie grid. I also enjoy hearing what you have read and are reading. I'm with Ceil about Interior Castles. I have never been able to get through the whole thing. I hope you can enlighten me on that one! Always enjoy connecting with you!

You read "Lord of the Rings"!

Awesome! I wondered if it made your reading list this year.

What did you think of it?

Tolkien was so much a part of my childhood I sometimes wonder how his novels appear to someone first introduced to them as an adult.
