I had more desire to be the center of attention when I was young. With age and wisdom I find peace in humility and I'm okay with being a supporter of the ones called to be in the limelight.

Coaching and now, especially at Christmas time, I'm the guy that has to get up and speak.

I like to share the Good News in a one on one setting.

1) Definitely in the audience.

2) The most uncomfortable time was when we were moving from SC. I was the ladies' group coordinator at our church, and I found out that some ladies were conspiring to surprise me and make my last meeting with them a going-away send-off in my honor. I am SO glad I heard about it ahead of time and had time to prepare. I was really emotionally overwrought about it until I wrote to a friend who is a a missionary wife. She told me some of her stories about how various churches had honored her in ways that were uncomfortable. One ladies' group had her hold an offering plate while ladies came by and gave donations for her. :-0 She encouraged me to remember that they were doing it in love and had the best possible motives (which I knew, but still...) and that God would give me grace. And He did. Though I was still uncomfortable, He got me through it.

3) I prefer writing both because it gives me time to think through the best way to express it, plus I'm not "on the spot" in front of someone.

I am a balance. I am a popular sanguine personality but have equal peaceful phlegmatic. I love people but need equal time alone.

Here are my answers to your questions:
1. My preference is in the audience but there have been many times when I've been onstage and eventually enjoy it. I have to laugh because I'm onstage every day with my class of preschool children. :)
2. As a child, I was the center of attention because of a heart defect and I didn't like it. Everyone was always worried about my health. I've been on TV and done some speaking so I'm getting more used to it but I still get a bit nervous.
3. I prefer writing my message. However, I do try to live out the message God gives to me each day. Sometimes it is simply loving others as He loves them. I realize I may be the only Jesus they might see.
