I had no idea you had colon cancer! My goodness! I surely would have been empathetic. I’m so sorry. BUT I’m so grateful yours was caught early and eradicated. There is much cancer in our family, including Daddy’s colon cancer, Mother’s breast cancer x 3, and now her pancreatic cancer. So early, preventive tests, and also surgeries and other treatments to remove it, are really a modern miracle. I’m so glad yours was removed entirely. And yes, you go through some discomfort every three years, but I know this three-year shift from upright to on your side on a table in the OR, is worth your peace of mind. thank you for sharing the intimacies and intricacies of your life so willingly. Your openness here may just have saved a life!

Good for you for learning a new word because of the concentration on SHIFT. I would be interested in hearing your thoughts about the book dealing with politics without contempt.

Also, I wanted to let you know that I tried sitting on my hands last week at church. I almost made it through but I have to confess that in the end, I had about five phrases I wrote down. But in the end, they all amounted to the one phrase that has stuck with me all week which was, STAND FIRM.
