Oh Lisa, what a thoughtful, moving, and thought-provoking post. It is easy to get caught up in things and forget what is truly important. Thank you for sharing this sacred moment in your life. I really was moved by your writing.

Wow! I'm rejoicing with you, "I almost missed this sacred moment. But we were given this one final opportunity. An unexpected one. An unplanned one. One I’m very grateful for."

I pray this as well, "To use this minute well. Fill it with love. Get and stay attached to the people inside of it. And do it all again in the next minute."

Wow, Lisa … what a powerful story. (And what a sweet little guy that Henry is!) This quote from the book almost took my breath away: “So when you pay attention to something you don’t especially value, it’s not an exaggeration to say that you’re paying with your life.” I’ve been feeling convicted about some time-management things lately, and your words today further show me I need to make some changes. Thanks for the nudge, my friend.

What an amazing story and I sure identify with this. My eyesight dims with productivity, what I think is important, and focused on my calendar and to do list. This is not lifegiving nor life at all. Thanks for a great illustration that woke me up

Thanks for this powerful reminder to be looking for the opportunities around us to connect with others and be there for them in the small moments God opens up for us. This week, God has been reminding me to look for His answers. This story reminds me that we have to wade through a lot sometimes to be the answer to someone else’s prayers - or the prayers of a mother’s heart - or to walk out the answers to our own. God orchestrates, but we have to do the work and we need to be paying attention. This was such a good reminder to me today!

Lisa, thank you for writing this post. You articulate the way we should surrender to what happens to us andthe power of the choice we have in response. I was in the checkout line at Walmart the other day, and had a similar experience because, well, Walmart, but I was able to relax and appreciate the moment that took forever to purchase my 5 items because, well, how important is it I get out of there sooner rather than later? After all, I was able to miss the brief downpour outside while I waited in the shelter of the store. Thanks for the reminder to number our days.

I loved your story, Lisa, and thank you for sharing it. You reminded me of the time my dad was in ICU and we bumped into a woman we knew whose husband was also in the ICU. We spent time praying for her husband and encouraging her. This >> "I want to pay attention to people, to God-moments, to opportunities to love and be loved. Not just how to increase productivity and efficiency." Amen. This is my prayer as well. Sacred moments are all around us, if we only have eyes opened to see them.

great post. I tend to be a bit OCD so I focus on my time management skills. I am great with them at work in the classroom but at home....i tend to let my "to do" list take over and am learning to allow GOD to direct my steps....that might include some waiting or some interruptions for some God moments (like when the phone rang and it was my BFF sobbing about her brother being in ICU and I wanted to finish my painting project....but...GOD!!). Thanks for the reminders here Lisa!!

This was such a good reminder, Lisa. God may be orchestrating something as we are fighting to accomplish something else. Oh the irony of it. And yet I can look back and see when this has happened in my own life. I am trying not to be impatient and just roll with the time interruptions.
