In reply to David. Ah, this makes me smile, hearing the the Word is embedding down deep in you and exhaling out in ways expected and unexpected. I'm impressed by the technique you mention, mentally imaging the text in practical ways....I'll have to try that!

The taking it personally is definitely happening after I’ve learnt the scripture. I seem to be gathering a handful of verses that I use regularly (sometimes seemingly for no reason).

I agree it can be a good learning and understanding aid too. I used to learn speeches from Shakespeare’s plays. I tried to put myself in the state of mind where those exact words would come naturally. That made me conscious of all kinds of things I hadn’t noticed about the text, like rhythm, when to breathe, how the ideas change and develop.

I think this might work with some of the Psalms, and maybe with Jeremiah (which seems very personal).

Yes! “He has done gloriously!” Right now, in the beauty of Autumn, it should be evident!

I know your post is about memorization but I just had to comment on that scripture.
